Kemone Update!

Hi everybody,

Kemone's interview went well, but he didn't get that job.  God must have something better in store for him. The interview was a good experience, and I think he was encouraged to finally be contacted and asked to interview.

We are still working with Kemone's parole officer on getting final approval for him to attend our church's Men's Retreat.  Please continue to pray that God's will be done.  Kemone really wants to go - we just have to work out a few details.  If he's unable to go for the whole weekend, we're hopeful that he can at least go for the day on Saturday.

Yesterday after church, we joined our friends, Chuck and Renee, to head up to the high desert for a visit with Kemone.  What a delightful day!  The time was good. We didn't have much of a plan - just wanted to spend some time with Kemone.  We took some cookies, cake and breads for all the residents in the house.

When we got there we met two new guys, Carlos and Stan. Carlos removed his ankle bracelet last week which resulted in the Parole Officer and another police officer searching the entire house. Carlos told us a little about himself and said he liked to smoke weed and steal stuff to get more. That's why he's been in an out of prison a lot.   Since arriving at the house, one of the other residents - Darryl - shared Jesus with Carlos .  I was delighted to hear Darryl telling me about Carlos praying with him to accept Jesus into his heart.  Awesome!!

Stan is older and evidently got into trouble at an older age - and has only one conviction.  It sounded like he and his wife were in a divorce situation and somehow it turned physical.  He said he didn't really do anything but was convicted and served 3 years and has 5 years of parole.

After getting a little bit acquainted, we took Kemone and went to lunch. Before we left for lunch, Darryl asked if we would please come back and do communion and prayer after lunch! WOW...how cool is that!  He really liked it that we did that last time.

So after lunch we did a little light grocery shopping for Kemone then went back, shared communion. and gave everyone the opportunity to pray aloud.  Darryl asked if we would please ask our friends to pray for his brother.  A couple others asked for prayer for their family. One guy didn't participate, Oscar, he stayed in his room. He is the one who seems to have some issues and acts like he is on some serious medication. It's always such a blessing to hear their prayers... many times thanking God for another day.

We headed home around 5.  It was a cold and windy day in the high desert, but we were so blessed to have had another opportunity to spend time with Kemone and his roommates.

Learning to love like Jesus,

Mike and Susie
