We had such a good time on Saturday visiting with Kemone! We went out to the "Wood Grill" for lunch, then went to DD's to help him get more clothes. He was much more relaxed and we all shared lots of laughter together. It was the first time we'd all seen him wearing street clothes, and that was a joy to behold.
He was amazed at all the food, dishes, homemade cookies, meals and other things that were donated by so many of you. The back of our Tahoe was pretty full, and he had so much fun putting things away in the kitchen. THANK YOU SO MUCH for all you have done for Kemone!! Donations have already paid for his February rent, and I believe there's almost enough collected already to pay March. We are hoping to cover his rent through the month of April.
He got his official birth certificate last Friday, so was supposed to go get his State ID card today. I haven't heard from today with an update, but I'm sure he did as he'd planned.
Kemone had asked us for a cross necklace right after we first met him a couple of years ago. We purchased some, but the chief of security at the youth facility wouldn't let us take them in. We took one to him on Saturday and he loved it.
Please keep praying for him. He has two roommates now and they're both quite a bit older than him. It's good for him to have company, but we're praying that he stands his ground and doesn't let anyone pull him down.
Also - I heard from his older brother yesterday. He hasn't spoken to Kemone for several years and didn't even know he'd been incarcerated until recently. He really wants to be able to see Kemone and I know Kemone would love that. I referred him to Kemone's parole officer to get all of that figured out. Please pray for God's will to be done. His older brother is a believer and is very involved in his church in Los Angeles. He was happy to hear about all of you that are praying for Kemone.
Thank you again and again and again for the prayers and the donations for Kemone. He loves hearing about all of you.
Learning to love like Jesus,
Mike and Susie (and Renee!)
